- Most of the locals spoke English!
- We felt very safe!
Things we didn’t like as much
- Not a very walkable city – Harder to get around unless taking public transportation.
This city grows on you quickly! When Michelle and I first got there, I have to admit I wasn’t really a fan. It’s a huge city that reminded me a lot of New York City (except without the homelessness). There are skyscrapers everywhere for as far as the eye can see, and at first it was a little intimidating because we weren’t used to being in such a big city. But the friendliness of the people and the ease of taking the trains anywhere we wanted to go made it feel pretty comfortable fairly quickly! Our Airbnb was on the 25th floor, and when we looked out the window during the night, the view that we had of the city was breathtaking! So many buildings and so many lights! It was beautiful!
Also, we visited some of the biggest shopping malls we’ve ever seen! Since we left Kuala Lumpur, we tend to judge any mall we go to now by how it compares to the ones we saw in Malaysia. So far, none even come close!
We also loved the food here! Because of the diversity of cultures that all meet together in this one area, there is a multitude of food choices to enjoy. From Chinese to Malaysian, Indonesian, Indian, Thai, and Western style food, it’s all here and it is very, very good!
Places We Visited
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
We stayed in Kuala Lumpur for about 2 months. At first we didn’t really like it that much, but soon it became one of our favorite cities and one that we definitely hope to get back to one day.
